Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc. commonly known as Tri Kappa, is a unique philanthropic organization existing only within the boundaries of the state of Indiana. Seven young ladies met at the Girlsʼ Classical School of Indianapolis (May Wright Sewall) and founded the sorority in 1901. Each young lady was to begin a chapter in her hometown. From these humble beginnings, Tri Kappa has thrived throughout the state with 146 Active Chapters and 114 Associate Chapters, totaling almost 9,000 actively participating members. The town of Culver has both an active and associate chapter. Presently Epsilon Nu, the Culver active chapter, has 21 members and was incorporated on December 14, 1959. We have been serving our community for over fifty years. Tri Kappa members donate over $1.5 million every year to the endeavors of charity, culture, and education. For the past 100 years, Tri Kappa members have donated untold hours and millions of dollars to projects in the state of Indiana.
The Epsilon Nu chapter donates approximately $10,000.00 each year to different organizations and projects. Epsilon Nu supports the Marshall Co. Community Foundation, Culver Boys and Girls Club, Marshall Co. Mental Health Association, Pathfinders Home, Beaman Home, Riley Children’s Hospital and Camp Riley. We also give generously to the Culver Community Elementary and Jr.-Sr. High schools to support educational programs such as the Cornucopia Magazine, school music fund, cultural enrichment fund, and the Young Authors conference. We give scholarships each year to graduating students from Culver Community High School and Culver Academes and to returning adult students.
Statewide Tri Kappa supports the James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children with over a half million dollars for equipment and thousands of “Riley dolls” since 1922. Tri Kappa supports the Ronald McDonald House, the Mental Health Association of Indiana, Indiana Special Olympics, Best Buddies Organization and many other charitable causes. Tri Kappa supports the Hoosier Salon and awards fine arts scholarships. The Tri Kappa Art Collection, with almost 100 paintings by artists from Indiana, is on permanent loan to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Scholarships of over $5 million have been given statewide since 1913 in the areas of academics, fine arts, journalism, and to non-traditional students.
